Anxiety disorders
They arise when situations or circumstances that are actually harmless are associated with anxiety and when the brain becomes accustomed to this association. Worry-induced rumination or avoidance behavior often have a major impact on life. Anxiety disorders can be treated well in various ways!
ADHD / ADS
Parents of children with ADHD often recognize themselves in this diagnosis after their children have been assessed and treated. If necessary, I refer them for a clinical-psychological diagnosis and then initiate appropriate treatment depending on the results.
Schizophrenia
Schizophrenic illnesses are characterized by severe thought disorders, among other things. Delusional symptoms and hallucinations occur, which often cause the sufferer great anxiety. This makes their behavior very conspicuous, which can lead to conflicts with relatives, neighbors and the police. Professional drug treatment is urgently required; modern drugs are usually well tolerated.
Psychotherapeutic treatment
Psychotherapy is the use of scientifically based psychotherapeutic methods with the aim of alleviating psychological suffering. It is always voluntary. My psychotherapeutic method is behavioral therapy. I offer one-to-one sessions and, if required, I can also talk to family members. Psychotherapy can be particularly helpful for depression, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders and attachment disorders.
Trauma-related disorders
When people are exposed to dramatic and anxiety-provoking events or live in violent/abusive relationships over a long period of time, symptoms can occur as a result of trauma that disrupt their whole life and all relationships. The symptoms are often not easy to understand. I help you to understand yourself better and give you tools to regain control over your thoughts and feelings.
Depression & bipolar disorder
Affective disorders are very common, with 20% of all people suffering from depression at least once in their lives. The symptoms can severely affect all areas of life, which is why they should be treated. There are modern and very well-tolerated medications for this and lifestyle also has a major influence; I will be happy to advise you on this.

My name is Dr. Selma Nassan-Agha and I am a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine.
In my work, I attach great importance to giving my patients time and space to be heard, seen and understood. My approach is based on the following principles: Taking time, listening, educating, advising, treating and accompanying. I explain a lot and attach great importance to ensuring that my patients understand the connections between stress, symptoms of illness and how medication works. This understanding not only promotes healing, but also cooperation and trust in the treatment.
I want my patients to feel comfortable and safe so that I can accompany them on their way to the best possible life for them personally. Since we humans are social beings by nature, a good life includes healthy relationships above all – both privately and professionally. It is therefore a particular concern of mine to support people with attachment trauma and the resulting relationship problems (in their private and professional lives) and to use my professional expertise to help them heal.
In order to offer the broadest possible support, I offer treatments in German, English and Arabic. I look forward to accompanying you on your individual path!

Frequently asked questions
I answer many of the questions that I am frequently asked here. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
How does an initial consultation work?
Approximately 90 minutes are planned for the initial consultation. You will bring all your current findings with you. After taking a detailed medical history and reviewing the findings, I will make a (suspected) diagnosis and, if necessary, refer you for further examinations (MRI, laboratory, clinical-psychological diagnostics). If necessary, medication will be prescribed during the initial consultation after appropriate information and explanation. In this case, a short telephone call will be arranged after approx. 1 week and a follow-up appointment after 4 to 6 weeks.
You will receive a prescription, referrals, a short letter for the family doctor and a fee note. This can be paid in cash or by bank transfer. If you pay in cash, I will submit the fee note to your health insurance company immediately (if you wish). If you pay by bank transfer, I will submit it as soon as the fee has been credited to my account.
How does a check-up appointment work?
A check-up appointment lasts 30 to 50 minutes, depending on your needs. We will talk about any changes in your condition and I will discuss the results of the examinations carried out with you. Medication will be adjusted if necessary. There is always time for patient questions! You will again receive a prescription, short letter and fee note and a follow-up appointment will be arranged if necessary.
What is the rule for canceling appointments?
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the appointment. If you cancel later or do not show up for your appointment without canceling, a cancellation fee of 150 euros will be charged.
What costs will I incur? Is there a possibility of reimbursement by the health insurance company?
First appointment 250,- Euro (depending on the service and health insurance company, you will receive up to 150,- Euro back from your health insurance company after submitting the fee note)
Follow-up appointments 180,- (depending on the service and health insurance company, you will receive up to 108,- Euro back from your health insurance company)
Detailed findings will be charged separately depending on the time required.
Do you also treat children?
No, I only accept patients from the age of 17.
Can I contact you about a headache?
No, if you have persistent headaches, you should first consult a neurologist.
Do you treat sleep disorders?
Yes, I treat sleep disorders. If necessary, I can also refer you to a sleep laboratory.
Do you issue driver's license certificates?
No, I do not issue driving license reports. Please contact a person who is on the list you received from the police.
Do you offer pre-divorce counseling?
No, pre-divorce counseling is the responsibility of certain psychotherapists and counseling centers. You will receive a list of these from the court dealing with your divorce.
